A lecture 'On Newton's Axioms' has been held at very many institutes,

not only around the Baltic Sea. While

- German presentations

and

- English presentations

are available since 1994, a paper proper or rather a reconstruction

of the fundamentals of classical mechanics is still a draft.

In the course of the draft reconstruction of the fundamentals

of classical mechanics the author was made aware of the Karlsruher

Physikkurs (KPK) based, as is his own work, on the balance of quantities

exchanged between systems by flows.

Comments concerning the presentation of mechanics in the KPK are to be found in

an open letter adressed at the editor, Prof. Friedrich Herrmann,

of the course material published by Aulis at Köln in 1999.

The following little exercise on the

- viscous resistance of spheres in potential flows: computed

is an example of the fact that in potential flows of Newtonian fluids

D'Alembert's Paradox does not hold, although Bernoulli's equation holds

in the whole flow regime as explained in a section on
- viscous resistance of spheres in potential flows: discussed.

At high Reynolds numbers this component of resistance is of course

small compared to other components.
